A few months ago, a couple of friends asked me to upload my pictures from my rides onto my Facebook page.
There must be at least 40.000 pictures and, not being a keen Facebooker, I didn't know where to start.
Being the lazy fucker that I am I suggested I change my cover picture every week, occasionally accompanied by a short story.

Here's one of them ...

"Following the Pied Piper home".

This short story takes place in Sweden.
It was after the Euro Rally in Bankeryd (on the southeast shores of Lake V??ttern).

Was originally heading northeast to Stockholm (from Bankeryd) with my friend Bengt (also known as Piper - see why below) and lovely wife Anki who were going even further north to their home town Knivsta just south of Uppsala.
What is little known is that Bengt has specific expertise in hand-making eastern-style bagpipes (not the Scottish style) - hence the nickname "Piper".

Piper's bike had been having trouble over the last couple of days and the gremlins reappeared on the highway to Stockholm.
We decided to veer north off the highway (onto route 55, if I recall correctly) near Norrkoping and I volunteered to follow him and his "limping" machine home in case he broke down again.

We aimed to also have dinner in Uppsala and then I would head back down to Stockholm as originally planned.
I mean, what is an extra 200 km's between friends?

So, dear "Piper of the realm" ... we sure made some history that day!

As it happens, so much did I love Uppsala that I was back there 2 years later, again having dinner with my good friend Bengt and his lovely family.

Unless an unforseen bullet takes me out, I'll be there again some day.

"I am the first piper who calls the sweet tune,
but I must be gone by the seventh day."
(The Whistler - Jethro Tull)
